  • About
  • SEMCOG’s crash location map represents locations of reported crashes on roads in Southeast Michigan that are included in the Michigan Geographic Framework (MGF) Version 16. Crashes that occurred in other locations not in the MGF are not shown on this map.

    Instructions:
To view a subset of crashes, select your search criteria by clicking on the desired fields under each category (Crash Severity, Location, Year/Month/Time of Day, Key Factors, Road Jurisdiction, or Crash Type). The map will update automatically to match your selected criteria.

To acquire additional information about a crash, zoom into the crash location and click on it. Additional information provided includes:

    • Number of occupants and vehicles involved
    • Number of injuries by severity
    • Date and time
    • Location
    • Special factors
    • Linked crash report (UD-10) form

Use the basemap selector in the top right corner of the map basemap icon to switch to other basemaps, including a basemap that shows traffic volume information at certain zoom levels. For a more detailed look at Traffic Volume data, see the Traffic Volume Map.

    Note:
Locations where multiple crashes overlap are shaded darker.

To clear all selections, click the refresh button in your browser.

Road Characteristics represent most recent data available, not based on crash year. For example if you select crashes from 2014 the national functional class, number of lanes and surface type will be the most recent data, not what it was in 2014.

Traffic crash data used in SEMCOG’s crash location map were received from the Michigan State Police, Criminal Justice Information Center (CJIC).
