  • About
  • SEMCOG's traffic volume map represents Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT) for roads in Southeast Michigan that are eligible for Federal Funds.

Daily Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) is calculated by the sum of (Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT) x segment length). Daily VMT represents approximately the number of vehicle miles traveled daily on federal aid link segments in the map view only. This number should be used as an approximation of Daily VMT.

Instructions: To acquire AADT and additional information about a road segment, zoom into the segment and click on it.

    Additional information provided includes:
    - Year the traffic count was taken
    - Type of traffic count
    - Number of lanes
    - Speed limit
    - Ownership of road

The three types of AADTs represented:
Observed - actual counts taken on the segment
Interpolated - calculated based on adjacent counts
Default - calculated based on county, number of lanes, and functional class

Note: Speed limit data is based on information we obtained from various agencies and can vary from actual posted speeds.
